For my design, I found this image and used Photoshop to alter
it. The Gestalt principles on display are figure/ground and a little bit of
continuous. Can you see the figure/ground illusion? One view is of an evening
landscape with a full moon. There are steps leading up a grassy hillside. From
this view the moon is the figure and the outside landscape is the ground. The
other is a view from the bottom of a manhole looking up. From this view the
figure is the stone walls of the manhole and the ground is the bright, outside
world. The other principle I added is continuous. The steps lead up to the
horizon and the horizon leads up to the moon.
I found this ad. It uses figure/ground. It's a little desturbing to my brain because I see the front profile more than the side profile and so the eye looks strange.
