What happens when you do one creative thing a day for five
days for someone else? Also, throw in two rules: Spend no money and if the act
is something obvious spouses do for each other it must be in an out of the
ordinary way. My test subject was my wife. The context is life is pretty hectic
for us with two boys (and a third on his way this week), work, school, church
callings, etc. My wife jokes that with all we have going on, it’s kind of like
we’re roommates at times more than a married couple. After five days and just
five creative actions like leaving a note folded into origami, hand picked wild
flowers which I have never done before and creating a complete menu for meals
leading up to my wife’s due date, I found two results. First, these simple
little acts kind of renewed our relationship and confirmed to her that we still
have something special. Second, I found sharing creativity lifted me as much as anyone.
