Don't think about it. Feel it.

I found Gestalt's design concept of similarity on the wall of my apartment. We have dozens of squares (all the same size, but varying patterns) creating a checkered design on our living room wall. This not only demonstrates similarity, but proximity as well because the group of squares on our wall form a cohesive unit.

For my design assignment, I created a collage of sorts. The words function as a unit employing similarity, since the type font and size are the same. This design also involves continuation, as the horizontal lines at the top keep the viewer's eyes moving from left to right. The lines also eliminate visual information from the galaxy picture, but a viewer can still perceive the galaxy picture as a whole because of Gestalt's closure principle.
