Gestalt meets the Boy Who Lived.

I found this picture in the basement of the JFSB. It demonstrates Gestalt's law of closure because the brain interprets the image, even though it's not all there.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, so this is one of the designs I created in class the other day. It demonstrates the law of figure-ground because it's just a white background with a distinct image on top. It also demonstrates the law of proximity. The scratches on the glasses aren't actually continuous lines because I erased areas and deleted lines to make them look more realistic. Even though each scratch is actually made out of several smaller lines, the brain still groups the lines together to create familiar symbols (the letters H and P).
