Gestalt Theories

I tried to design something that used Gestalt's principles and realized that most of his principles are used every day, even if it isn't a super complicated optical illusion. I made a logo for disc golf in provo. I focused on the principles of Figure/ground with the baskets inside the circles. The eye perceives a clear foreground and background. The other principle I tried to incorporate is continuation. The eye naturally follows the words as it reads them. Having two offset circles makes the eye want to follow the line downward. I think having a different "o" with the logo interrupts a normal pattern and draws attention to the basket images.

Here is a screenshot of some great use of Gestalt's principles. The dropbox logo uses proximity to give the feel of an open box. The shapes aren't connected, but since they are close together the mind creates a complete image.
