Semiotics #1 - The Charging Bull

1. Signifier - The Charging Bull near Wall Street in Manhattan, NYC

2. Signifies - Aggressive financial optimism in the American market

3. What stands out to me about this charging bull is the expression on its face.  It is an expression of determination and unforgiving resolve to move forward.  This could symbolize our resolve as the American people to press forward in whatever economic situation we find ourselves in.  They eyes look almost angry, but in combination with the expression of its mouth the face almost looks calculating and scheming, like it has a plan to handle the challenges it is presented with.  The bull is leaning back on its hind legs, ready to spring forward into whatever puts itself in its path, much like our fervor to attack whatever problems arise in our economy.  Another thing that stands out to me is the movement of its tail, likely symbolizing the constant movement of the American market and our need to be adaptable and able to move along with it.  The bull is visibly strong and determined, symbolizing our attitude as a country to never throw in the towel but consistently strive for better.
