Sitting at work

From where I am sitting, the back corner desk of the storage room at my work in the RB, tracking the passage of time can be rather interesting.
Ignoring the clock, knowing when an hour has passed is the easiest. At fifteen past every hour, at least two workers in blue shirts get up to check all the courts.
On top of that, one can notice when classes are about mid way through based on the yelling and sports balls hitting the metal doors to my right, which can be rather defining.
There are no windows to see the passage of the sun, but a ding from the front desk bell normally means that 50 minutes have passed as instructors trade equipment for various classes.
The work trashcan on the other hand is pretty dang accurate at calling out mid day, because the remains of hastily prepared lunches start to reach the brim, also the smell coming from an over worked microwave can give way.

About 40 minutes later, an employee starts to recap the Netflix episode they just finished and that is when I know 15 past the hour is getting pretty close again.

  2. It's funny to notice the different things people do routinely without even looking at a clock.
