Thought Experiment (Jhonatan Larrocha)

my first time writing questions down, I thought of writing whatever came to my mind in under a minute. the result was as follows:

what if we lived on the moon?
what if the moon was twice as big?
what would the world look like if clouds were made out of rice?
would the sky turn green if the water was blue?
what if worms seized the day?
what would birds look like if they were reptiles?
what if i shaved my head?
what would we all look like if we were bald?
how many crayons would it take to color a mural?
what if we were all named after our fathers and our mothers?
what would happen if i threw a nickel and found a quarter when i went to look for it?

the second time around, I decided to let my mind wander as well, but I was more selective of the questions and focused on practical and idealistic ideas. this is what i came up with:

what if there was a time capsule that slowed down time?
what if we could rest and equivalent of 8 hours of sleep in 4 hours?
what if we were required to write notes in pictures instead of words?
what if we were required by law to say i love you to everyone before we started a conversation with them?
what if everybody had a job and house to live?
what would people look like if they looked on the outside how they were on the inside (spiritually, emotionally, etc.)?
what if we all had to tell the truth all the time?
what if we were all rewarded for being creative?
what if we had to write and speak in rhymes all the time?
what if our dreams were reality, and our reality was a dream?
what if fish could fly for extended periods of time?
what if we could read each other's minds?
what if villains were really heroes?
what if superheroes were average people?
what if everybody had a super power?
what if goods deed were rewarded with government stipends?
what if all education was free?
what if all universities taught technical and practical skills instead of concepts?
what if we weren't graded in school?
what if we could all sleep whenever we wanted to?
what if the goal of everything we did was to bring greater peace and happiness to everyone around us?

At the end, I thought this was a great exercise for letting out creativity. These led me to think: what if one could write a book one one of these ideas? What if I attempted to actually accomplish some of these questions? What would be the results?

It pretty much led me to other questions, but also to many possibilities.

  1. I love the throw a nickle find a quarter question. What if things transformed once they were out of our sight?

  2. It would be interesting to not be graded in school. Nice questions!

  3. No grades would mean people would come for learning. It would probably be a better atmosphere.

  4. I feel like if education was free people wouldn't value it as much which is sad.
