BALANCE: This weekend, I planned two bachelorette parties so I had lots of fun decorations around my apartment. My friends and I decided to snap some photos while they were over. We placed my tripod at an angle so we weren't centered. In order to have balance, we used the rule of thirds. The Mrs. balloons and banner are heavy on the right hand side, and the pink and gold balloons, which I am holding, are heavy on the left side. I think this photo does a good job of showing how using the rule of thirds can make a photo more interesting.
SUBJECT/BACKGROUND: Today I went to Park City with my family. This moose makes an interesting subject because it is dressed so outrageously. To make the subject stand out even more, I adjusted my the settings on my DSLR to create a background blur. After, I went into Photoshop and played around more with blurring the trees so that the moose was the sole focus of the photo. Watching the Lynda.com tutorials has taught me that there are so many different ways to make a subject stand out.
POINT OF VIEW: While I was in Park City, I also noticed this interesting chime. Rather than take the photograph straight on, I decided to turn my body and squat. I think this photo would have turned out so much differently if I didn't attempt to take it from this angle. I like this angle because it looks as though the trees are sideways, which kind of makes it look like an illusion. This point of view shows a unique perspective of both the trees and the sky.
