Point of View:
I wanted to take a photo of campus from a different point of view. I crouched down and set my camera above a grate. I changed the aperture setting to create a shallow depth of field and blur parts of the photo. I wanted Y Mountain in the background but didn't want it to be the focus on the photo.
Balance:
I tried to find elements that would balance the size of the JFSB. I think the pocket of blue sky as well as the bare trees and small shrubbery in the courtyard help balance the photo as the building leads from the foreground to the background.
Subject/Background:
I wanted to take a photo of a landmark on campus that also incorporated the beautiful snow-capped mountains in the background. I stood on the bridge between the Marriott Center and the main part of campus. I wish the grass had been greener, but I like the lines of the trees and grassy area. I also love the American flag waving in front of the mountains.
