Photojournalism and Composition

The topic/group of people I decided to use is a group of trail runners. This particular crowd was getting together for a five mile race on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. They were a fun, but focused group.

Trail running is exactly what it sounds like: running on trails. They are a subset of runners that prefer rocks to roads, trails to treadmills. They are the kind of group that I would love to find myself in. I wanted these pictures to portray the kind of friendly obsession with running these people have, mixed with their awesome love of nature.

These people are hard-core runners. Just look at all those race stickers! Not to mention, the license plate says "RUNJNKY".

This was taken at the finish line of the race.

The guy writing down the finishing times put the whole race together. For fun. He barely made $20 off this entire event and yet he still loves to put it on every year.

Finishers talking about their run.

Of course, only the best races end with breakfast. Trail runners fuel up after a solid morning race (the winner of the race was not there, due to the fact that he decided to run another ten miles after he finished. He eventually made it back to drink some hard-earned chocolate milk.)
