One Nation Under God

The reason I chose this picture and accompanied it with this type is because my family has seen a lot of war and it touched me. My grandfather and great grandfather rallied behind the United States and the fight for freedom when they were young. They relied on the brute strength of men every day, but almost in a whisper, they prayed every single day for the strength to endure the emotional pain and psychological trauma they experienced while in combat. They prayed that they could go home and be normal, good fathers despite all they did and saw.

The large font, to me, represent the rally cry of men into battle while the smaller font symbolized the prayer whispered by many, pleading for the strength to endure affliction and intense trial.

I chose white writing and kept it simple because the image itself is faded and dark. The white contrast symbolizes the constant battle between light and dark forces, yet despite the darkness, God is present and very much visible.

Our nation was upon the belief that God delivered us from tyrannous forces. This land will always be a promised land to those who fight for freedom and do not forget God. We live in a time where people are forgetting and rely too much on their own strength. I created this picture to remind people that God is the ultimate source of strength, even on the battlefield.

  1. Austin,
This is a very powerful image and very well done. Great balance and use of sizes in your font.
