3 Ads for Harry's Shaving Products

Elements of Design: All Three of the Ads I produced demonstrate good balance because of their relative symmetry and adherence to the Rule of Thirds. The first two use a primary color scheme, with reds and blues as the dominant hues, and faint yellows, seen in clothing and skin tones, acting as accents. The third has a split-complementary color scheme, dominated by red and supported by greens and blues. Typography is important in each image as well, helping each ad establish a unique and interesting story. Semiotics abound in these three images, with much of the typography making use of iconic and easily recognizable symbols and styles, including the Red Sox' "B," the Duck Dynasty typeface, and the classic bold san-serif of the old Uncle Sam posters. Other symbols are featured as well, including a creative american flag and the beloved Mrs. Claus.

Objective: Harry's is an online company created by the founders of the online eyewear company, Warby Parker. With these three print ads for Harry's Shaving Products, my goal was to create ads that would help them expand their consumer base by reaching new demographics, specifically targeting beard wearing men who may think they don't really have a need for razors, as they're trying to grow or maintain their facial hair, not get rid of it.
