Balance

This photo uses the rule of thirds to give the composition balance. The depth of field is somewhat shallow which draws your attention to the cups stuffed with napkins which are in focus in contrast to the background which is somewhat fuzzy.

This photo uses radial symmetry.

This may more closely look like bilateral symmetry but I was going for asymmetrical balance. The umbrellas contrast and compliment each other. One is large and light colored while the other is smaller and darker. The kids also compliment and contrast each other. The boy wears dark clothes while the girl wears light clothes which I think helps create balance between them because it matches the other person's umbrella. The boy is a little bit closer than the girl and is looking out and up while she is looking down and behind him. Somehow, that feels balanced to me.

The kids are my younger siblings who are twins. I kind of like the idea that because they are twins they are similar and so you get that bilateral feel but then at the same time each is their own person and they are different but they work together because of those differences like asymmetrical balance.
