Accidental... or should I say "Unintended" or "Unnoticed"

Looking back at my day-to-day life, I realize that I see tons of cool things every day.  There is a natural beauty to be found in many different things. I don't remember everything that I see, but I know that seeing things from different perspectives and trying to "see" not just "look" around brings some creative inspiration.  I decided to carry around my camera and just go through my day to take pictures of things I found.  This wasn't just my camera phone, but a point and shoot.  Just using a different instrument changed how I saw things because I felt more pressure to find something "artsy".

Here are some things I saw.

This is probably planned, but I noticed it and found it to be creative. I bet there was an intended message to share, but it stopped me and made me think.

Most of the trees are still green, yet one was a vibrant orange.  I love how it contrasted against the green and its matching to the sculpture in the background. Who knew death could be so beautiful!

As a biker I think each bicycle is beautiful in its own way. The curved wheels mixed with sharp angles of the frames build an awesome contrast.  I got lower and liked this shot of all the shapes together.

Scrap metal... I liked the colors. I asked myself "What could I make with something like that?"

I had never been up this street behind the MacDonald building until the other day, I like the contrast between a completed and unfinished building. It is as if they are facing off and sizing each other up.

Cranes help build beautiful buildings, but this angle looks as if the cranes are building the trees. Mixed with the clouds I thought it left a ominous feel.  What can't we build?

I don't think pills are a good form of art, but circles in a circle bottle looked pretty cool. The bright orange is so vibrant and energetic.

I think the biggest difference for me was being to take a moment to enjoy the beauty.  My perspective change to see more beauty comes from a conscientious effort to find something cool and creative. I think one of the most important aspects is making time to be creative.  Creativity requires some serious effort.  Inspiration comes from the random, unusual or unexpected; but, in order to be truly creative I think one needs to work with the small things to make them greater. My way of working with the small things was identifying them and documenting their wonderful existence. Just taking time to be creative makes a big difference. I'm curious what carrying around my camera for a whole month would be like.

  1. Wonderful. Very creative how you shot inside the bottle. Pills can be very expressive given that we live in "Happy Valley."

  2. I like that you not only found accidental art, but took the time to see its meaning and symbolism to you personally. These are some awesome shots that I wouldn't have even thought about as art. The teddy bear by the statue is just too cute.

  3. I love how you "saw" things instead of just "looked" at things. Looking at things from a new perspective give them a special kind of beauty. The picture of the pills has such great color. The scrap metal is awesome too. I wish you could have made something out of it!

  5. I really liked the inside of the medicine bottle, that's something you almost never look at though we all are in possession of it.

  6. I also liked inside the pill bottle. I feel that that picture already gives such a bold statement that it would need only one header to be an advertisement.

  7. I like the tree picture, its fun to point out the unique things in this world and notice them for their beauty and no their oddness

  8. My favorite picture you had was the tree. I think fall in Utah is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen! It's great seeing it come back. I also loved the statue. We pass that statue every day, but when we take the time to stop and look, it brings everything to life.
