I'll be honest- I love to work out. I often use some creativity in putting together my exercise options for the day and enjoy changing it up. Today, I decided to exercise in the late afternoon, and out of nowhere a huge thunderstorm came in, so I definitely wasn't going outside. The power in my apartment was going on and off, so obviously I needed to stay inside.. but I decided to put a twist on indoor exercising.
I turned off all the lights in my apartment, and decided to do a P90X workout in the dark (I did have enough light from outside though to at least see what I was doing to avoid hitting something). I propped my computer on the windowsill and did something different by having a backdrop to look out on while I exercised- for the first time doing an indoor workout, the video wasn't the focal point. While progressing through my workout, I was able to watch the lightning and rainstorm outside. Since I am also on the third floor of an apartment building, I tried doing a couple of the exercises on the couches so my jumping wouldn't be so loud for the people living below me. With this combination of new ways to complete the same exercise program, I had a much more interesting workout, and responded creatively to the present circumstances. Instead of just focusing solely on the moves the trainer was doing in the video, I saw myself in relation to the forces of nature outside and had a greater awareness of myself and my surroundings.
